Anger Issues|Lucario x Trainer!Reader

Lucario was more than just your best Pokemon: he was your best friend. You and him have traveled throughout the region, meeting new people and their Pokemon, and winning badges. Somewhere along the way, Lucario learned to Mega Evolve, in which he was crazy powerful and agile, executing every attack smoothly and precisely.

That was great and all...except for one small problem. As a Riolu, he always had...anger issues and you supposed those carried on into his evolution. Unfortunately, that rage all too often reared its ugly head within Mega Lucario. But luckily, you taught your Pokemon to calm him down whenever that happens, so for the most part you have it under control.

"Hey! Your Lucario can Mega-Evolve? That's awesome!"

You and Lucario stopped in your tracks, turning to see another trainer running up to you. "Yeah," you smiled, holding a rainbow-colored Mega Stone between your two fingers. It was on a necklace identical to the one on Lucario. "Took forever to find one of these Lucarionites."

"Yeah..that's cool.." He said, panting slightly from running before straightening himself. "But I got..a Gengarite....YO we should totally have a battle of the Megas!!"

You nodded. "Alrighty, game on....what's your name?"

"Ricky. Now go, Gengar!!" He tossed a Pokeball and out came a grinning Gengar. But strangely, it was white instead of purple.

Your jaw nearly dropped in shock. This kid had a SHINY?

Closing your mouth, you shook your head. Shiny or not, you were ready to take him on. "Alright Lucario, let's go!" You shouted. The Aura Pokemon howled in agreement, stepping in front of you to face his opponent.

"Your move, m'lady~"

"Thanks," you giggled, gripping your Mega Stone tightly. "It's time to MEGA EVOLVE!" You pressed down on the charm. Both yours and Lucario's began to shine brightly, engulfing him in a powerful light.
Moments later, the light receded and Mega Lucario appeared, smirking with confidence. "Wow! I've never seen a Mega Lucario before!" Ricky mused. "But have you seen a MEGA Gengar?!" He activated his Mega Stone and soon the Gengar became a floating behemoth, still bearing that same grin.

Your eyes widened, you've never seen a Mega Gengar..but a Mega and Shiny Gengar?

"Heh..scared yet?" He chuckled. 

You shook your head once more. "Lucario and I have faced many Pokemon..we won't be intimidated by the likes of you! Use Close Combat!"

Growling, Mega Lucario charged forth, his fist forming a ball of energy as he jumped and attacked Shiny Mega Gengar...only to miss. You started to get a knot in your stomach, remembering that Gengars could use Levitate, but you kept your resolve. Mega Lucario growled fiercely as he swung his fists and tossed balls of energy at the Shiny, but kept missing every time. Was it somehow tinkering with his accuracy?

"Lucario, use-"

"Gengar, use Sucker Punch!" Snickering, Shiny Mega Gengar flew towards Mega Lucario, punching and sending him flying. Your eyes widened in horror as your companion crashed to the ground.
 
"Lucario!!" You rushed over, kneeling down beside him. "You okay?"

A groan was your only response. Worried that you may be pushing him, you put a hand on his shoulder. "H-Hey..maybe we should switch you out-"

"Sorry but that's not gonna happen." You looked up at Ricky, shocked. "Mega Gengar has a special ability called Shadow Tag. It prevents my foe's Pokemon from swapping out. In other words.." he smirked, folding his arms, "you're gonna have to try-- hey is...he okay?"

Looking back, you saw Mega Lucario standing up, but that's when you saw it: He was shaking, grinding his teeth together, but more notably...his pupils were shrunk.

Oh no.

Suddenly, he let out an angry roar and threw a massive Shadow Ball at the Shiny, knocking him out of the air. "Geng..G..Gengar.." 

"Ehhhhhh?! He instantly fainted!!" Ricky gasped, before looking up at you with wide eyes. "How did you teach him to do that?!"

"I didn't.." You began, confused. "B-But hey, I guess we won." You smiled nervously, though it fell when Mega Lucario began walking towards your opponent, his fists clenched.

"H-H-Hey..what are you...?!" He grabbed Ricky by his shirt collar and lifted him into the air. The young trainer's eyes widened in horror as the feral Pokemon stared at him.

"Lucario, let him go."

Turning his head, Mega Lucario only growled at you, before looking back. Frowning, you walked up to him. "Hey. Don't ignore me. I said let go-" But the moment you put your hand on his shoulder, he turned and backhanded you.

*SMACK*

You fell to the ground, one of your Pokeballs falling out of your bag. Touching your cheek, where he hit you, you gasped as blood appeared on your fingertips. "L-Lucario.." You looked up at your companion in shock and sadness, tears filling your eyes.

How could he do such a thing?

Suddenly, you saw something gray fly by you and slam into Mega Lucario, knocking him to the ground and making him release Ricky. His savior turned out to be your Pupitar. "Th-Thanks..." He stuttered, standing up shakily. The Hard Shell Pokemon nodded.

You smiled gently. She always had a habit of coming out of her Pokeball. "Good job, Pupitar. We'll take it from here, Ricky."

With a nod, he retreated his fainted Gengar and fled. Sighing, you walked over to Pupitar, patting her head, before kneeling down in front of Lucario, who seemed to be in a daze. "You okay Lucario?"

The Aura Pokemon nodded, sitting up. "Here.." You helped him to his feet. "Welcome back, buddy."

Lucario smiled, glancing at you, but his eyes widened in shock as he saw your face.

"What's wrong..ohhhhhh that.." You muttered, remembering the cut you got. Looking at Lucario, you saw his ears droop.

Then...you saw tears welling in his eyes, which kinda scared you a bit, since he isn't usually the one to show much emotion.

"Hey, it's okay Lucario. It's only a scratch, it-it'll-?"

He suddenly hugged you tightly. "I'm sorry, Master...I..I'm so sorry," he whimpered, tears falling from his face and onto your shoulder. Even as he spoke telepathically, which he doesn't often do, you could hear the pain in his voice. "I thought I had it under control..I really did...but I..I...."

"What did I say about calling me 'Master'?" You asked, internally giggling as you wrapped your arms around him. "And don't apologize for anything. You aren't use to Mega Evolving yet.."

"But Master I...I'm suppose to be your best Pokemon. I want to live up to that expectation--"

"Again with the "Master".." Sighing, you pulled away from him slightly. "Look, I have no expectations for you, except that you're by my side through thick and thin. That being said..."

You gently smiled, wiping away the streams of tears from his cheeks. "..you are not my servant, Lucario, you're my best friend..how many times must I remind you?"

Lucario looked at you, shocked, but then he mirrored your smile, shaking his head. "...none Mas-I mean..[y/n]." He blushed slightly, looking down at the ground. "But... I still feel guilty for hitting you. So you may punish me however appropriate."

"Pu..?" You looked over at Pupitar, shaking your head as you kicked her Pokeball towards her. "No, you did enough Thrashing. Now return." With a grunt in protest, she went back inside.

"Listen," you looked back at Lucario. "I'm not gonna punish you for something you have no control over yet. We just gotta work on it. That's all. But I think the first step we should take is sorting out your..anger issues."

"Hey!" He growled. "I do NOT have anger issues....okay maybe some.."

"Don't worry, friend. We'll get it straightened out. But for now.." You let go of him to grab his Pokeball. "I think you deserve a long rest....and I need to patch up at the Pokemon Center..."

Lucario smiled, nodding as he returned to his home. Sighing, you stored the Pokeballs into your bag before making your way to a town in the distance.
