*Birthday Special*|Ash Ketchum x Reader

"Happy Birthday, [y/n]!!"

"Mmm..what..?" Opening your eyes, all you could see were the blurred faces of the people and Pokemon in your bedroom-

Wait...

There are strangers and Pokemon that are not yours in your bedroom.

You sat up in a panic and rubbed your eyes hastily before looking up to get a better view of the intruders. But as it turns out, they were not strangers, but your friends Bonnie, Clemont, Serena, and Ash-plus Hawlucha, Pikachu, Greninja, Dedenne, Fennekin, and Noivern-all wearing party hats.

"O-Oh, it's only you guys," you relaxed a bit, before eyeing them strangely. "But wait...how did you get into my house?!"

"It was thanks to your buddy Klefki here," Serena replied, holding up the Key Ring Pokemon who had a tiny party hat on its head, too.

"Klefki.." You scolded, frowning at it. "How many times do I have to tell you-"

"Oh come on, [y/n]," Ash protested, "you know Klefki would never let in strangers. Plus it's your special day today and there's no need for you to get upset...unless you want us to leave...."

"Oh no, no!" You waved your arms as he began to turn away. "Th-Thank you guys for coming....I just wasn't expecting this...."

"Always expect the unexpected, [y/n]!" Clemont chuckled. "Today will just be full of surprises!"

"Yeah, you right, you right," you nodded, before an awkward silence settled in. "So..um..do you guys mind if I get ready and stuff?"

A slight blush dusted across Ash's cheeks as he said, "Oh right..s-sorry...okay everyone, let's head out so the birthday girl can get ready!!""

Everyone nodded in agreement as they left your room and out of your house. Once you heard the front door slam shut, you jumped out of bed and onto your feet, doing a little happy dance.

Today was you birthday!!

Although you were a bit sad that your parents couldn't be here to celebrate, since you've been traveling far away from home, at least you had great friends to spend it with.

You took a shower and dried your hair, before putting on your best outfit and [f/c] hat/beanie/bandanna. You grabbed your bag containing some berries and all six of your Pokeballs, plus a few empty ones, before taking one last look into the mirror. Your [e/c] eyes were shining brighter than the morning sun.

"Looking good, birthday girl~" You smiled before you slipped on some shoes and headed out the front door, where your friends were waiting for you.

"Ready to go?" Clemont asked you with a smile.

"Go where, though? I-I never really said what I wanted to-"

"Then just say the word and we'll go there!" Ash grinned. You giggled slightly at how childishly excited the boy was. He seemed even more excited for your birthday than you!

"Alrighty..how about that Friend Safari Zone in Kiloude City?" You suggested.

"Sounds good! Alright Noivern, take us there!" Ash said, jumping onto the Sound Wave Pokemon's back followed by Clemont and Serena. You tossed down a Pokeball and summoned [favorite flying type].

"Hey buddy, we're heading to Kiloude City," you told him/her. [F/F/T] looked at you, smiling before nuzzling your cheek. "Hehe..yes it's my birthday today. Now let's go!" You and Bonnie hopped on [F/F/T] and he/she and Noivern took off into the sky.

The rest of the day was fantastic. At the Safari you managed to capture a Ponyta and rode all around town with. Then, you and your friends went to your favorite cafe to grab a bite to eat. Afterwards you visited the PokePark and let your Pokemon play with the others while you, Ash, Serena, Bonnie, and Clemon headed into the Pokemon Center....where a surprise party was waiting for you.

"Happy birthday, [y/n]!!" You gasped, feeling your heart stop as everyone jumped out at once, holding presents, cake, and balloons.

"W-Wow.." You breathed once your heart rate returned to normal before looking up to see a banner that read 'HAPPY [AGE] BIRTHDAY' with a Pokeball on either side. "D-Did you plan this, Ash?" You asked, looking back at the boy.

"Uhhh no," he said, "but that's pretty awesome if they remember your birthday!"

You nodded, before turning back to them. "Thank you guys, so, so much....now let's party!"
...

You sipped a glass of punch as you looked around, smiling. Everyone was having a good time. The cake was half gone and you've already opened up all your presents.

It was then you decided to go out and get some fresh air. As you left the Pokemon Center, you went back to the park and played with the Pokemon for a little while. Some of Ash's Pokemon had their own gifts for you; Greninja's was that he'd you hug him and Hawlucha gave you the old "birthday punches" (the extra one for "luck" almost sent you flying).

You sighed, sitting down on one of the swings as you watched the Pokemon running around and having a good time.

"Hey [y/n]. Whatcha doing out here?" Looking up, you saw Ash. "Oh just needed to get some fresh air," you replied, smiling, "plus your Pokemon had some gifts for me."

"They did?' He raised an eyebrow. "Well that's sweet of them--where did you get that bruise from?" He asked, pointing to your arm.

"Hawlucha gave me birthday punches."

"Birthday punches?" Ash repeated, eyes wide.

"It's a custom in some places," you explained, "I don't know where he learned that from..but I'm fine, really."

"Oh okay." The black-haired boy relaxed, sitting on the swing next to you. "Speaking of gifts I...I um..had one more for you.." 

You looked over at Ash, seeing him blushing slightly. "B-But I think I left it in the Pokemon Center...I'll go-"

"Talon!!"

Hearing a cry, you and Ash turned to see Talonflame flying out of the Pokemon Center, carrying a small present with his talons. The Fire/Flying hovered in front of you, dropping it into your hands. "Nice save, Talonflame!" Ash laughed.

Talonflame nodded, before looking at you. "Talonflame!"

"Awh, thank you, dear" you giggled, patting his head. The Scorching Pokemon crooned softly before flying away. Curiously, you shook the box, wondering what's inside.

"What are you waiting for? Open it!" Ash encouraged.

"Okay, okay, hero." You sighed, tearing off the wrapping paper and opening up the box to find....

A Pokeball?

"Ash..you know I got like...20 of these at home, right?" You looked over at him, but he shook his head. "No, no, look inside it!"

"Okaaaay but-" When you opened the Pokeball, your face lit up like a child's on Christmas morning when you saw who it was.

It was Jirachi.

"A-Ash..this is...I..I don't what to say..."

"Heheh.." The boy chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I knew you've been searching for a Jirachi for a while, so, you know, I figured....hey are you crying? Do you not like it?"

"Huh? N-No." You wiped away the tears that fell from your eyes. "No, Ash. I've just...I can't thank you enough...but thank you." You sniffled, hugging Ash tightly.

"Happy birthday, [y/n]," he smiled, hugging you back. You both stayed that way for some time until you felt Jirachi poke your shoulder. 

"What's up, Jirachi?"

"Chi!" He said, holding out a small piece of paper.

"Awh, thank you." Jirachi nodded, sitting down on your lap as you looked at the note:

'Dear [y/n],
Let Jirachi grant you many wishes in years to come and never leave your side as you strive to achieve you dreams.
I know you can do it : )

"Thank you, again, Ash," you smiled after reading the cheesy message. "I..I never expected you to go as far as get me a Legendary."

Ash smiled back. "Well it's for you [y/n]. That's what friends are for....though I kinda wish we were something more..." He murmured.

"What was that last part?"

"What?" He glanced over at you, his cheeks tinted with red.

"I wanna know what you said," you said, now curious. "You sounded as quiet as a Whimsur back there."

"F-Fine..Ireallyreallylikeyou!"

You blinked once. Twice. Then three times in a row. "....come again?"

"I-I..." By now Ash's face was beet-red. All of his Pokemon gathered around the swings, giving him words of encouragement.

"[Y/n]..I-I've really, really liked you for s-some t-t-time and I was w-wondering if-"

"You want me to be your girlfriend?" You finished, blushing slightly. It was a miracle thinking that your crush actually likes you back, but you thought he would tell you when you both were older, so it was a bit of a surprise to you.

"Y-Yeah!" Ash squeaked. "But if you don't..then I understa-"

"Oh no, no, no, Ash I...I like you, too. I have for a while." You smiled, before you leaned in to peck his cheek. "You know..today's been a great day, but I think you gave me the best birthday gift ever right now."

"Jirachi??!"

You looked down to see the pouting Legendary, giggling as you patted his head. "Oops, I meant to say one of the best gifts." The smile returned to Jirachi's face as he closed his eyes, falling asleep in content.

Smiling gently, you returned him to his Pokeball. "I'd love to be your girlfriend, Ash." You told the black-haired boy.

"G-Great!" He grinned widely as his Pokemon team clapped, proud of their trainer for taking such a bold step on your special day. "I have been rehearsing this confession for a while now...and it was well worth it. But I have a question..."

"Go for it."

"...c-can we uh...save the kissingonthelips stuff f-for later? When we're older?"

You nodded. "Sure thing. Whenever you feel comfortable with it, you let me know." Ash's brown eyes widened at your answer, but he nodded back "Okay....I'm actually getting kind of hungry soooo..." He suddenly stood up and sprinted off.

"The rest of that cake is mine~!!" You heard him singing.

"Oh no you don't!" You yelled, jumping up and chasing your new boyfriend back to the Pokemon Center as the sun began to set over the horizon.

Today was definitely the best birthday ever.
