Won't You Sing?|Meloetta x Bullied!Child!Reader

Meloetta whirled and twirled through the forest, enriching the air with her melodious humming, attracting the attention of the many Bug and Grass-type Pokemon dwelling in the bushes and trees.

Although Meloetta was free and happy as could be, she always felt like something was...missing. She heard how humans could be marvelous singers, and most of the time two would come together to sing a song.

'What was that word called again..?' She would wonder.

'Ah...a duet!'

That's what Meloetta wanted--to find someone who would sing a duet with her. Someone who was passionate about singing as much as she was.

But who?
.......

"Here, Cotton..eat this." You hushed softly, giving your Shiny Swablu, who you named Cotton, a Pecha berry. "I read these berries kill off poison."

"Swa..." Cotton opened its small beak, taking the sweet, tender berry from your hand before chewing it. Once he swallowed the fruit, he looked up at you, chirping happily. You giggled and hugged him.

"I'm glad you feel better, but why did those meanies have to go as far as poison you, though?" You pouted. "I..I just don't understand."

You might have not understood why the other kids would go as far as poison the water your Swablu was drinking, but you knew why you both were being bullied by them. It wasn't because you weren't as rich as them, nor was it because they had strong Pokemon and you didn't even have your starter.

No.

It was all because you loved to sing. You had a beautiful voice at such a young age, and you would always be singing somewhere. Those who would stop and listen to your songs would applaud you, leaving you flustered.

Though, unfortunately, both of your parents were professors and were often too caught up in their work to recognize your talent. So you'd often go to the Daycare Center, where you would sing lullabies to baby Pokemon.

However, kids started to make fun of you for it. At first you ignored them, thinking they were just jealous....until the insults grew harsher and more hurtful than annoying. They mocked you, told you to shut up, and more. Not even your parents knew about your suffering, so you began to lose your confidence and soon....you decided it would be best to keep quiet.

So you often hid out in the forest, where no one but Pokemon would bother you. One day, however, you saw a Shiny Swablu being bullied by a group of normal Swablu. You rescued him and since that day, he never left your side.

You both always kept an eye out for each other, you would protect him and he would sing songs for you. Day by day he would help you slowly regain your confidence, though you would only sing for him when you ensured nobody else was around.


"Swablu?" Cotton asked, looking at you with concern in his beady, black eyes.

"I'm alright..just..thinking of new songs to sing." You hummed, before the light bulb appeared above your head. "Ahah! Cotton...listen to this."

The Shiny Swablu nodded. Closing your eyes, you cleared your throat a bit and began to sing softly:

"No one else can make me feel
The colors that you bring.
Stay with me while we grow old.
And we will live each day in springtime
Cause loving you has made my life so beautiful
And everyday my life is filled with loving you..."

You heard cheering and happy cries. Gasping, your eyes snapped open and you looked around to see several wild Pokemon applauding you. Even a Zangoose and Seviper stopped fighting to hear your song.

A small blush came across your face as you muttered a quiet "Thank you" to your audience. Unlike humans, Pokemon never judged you and always admired your singing.

A lone Spearow hopped onto your shoulder, and looked at you curiously, before smiling and nuzzling your cheek. "Hehe..that tickles!" You giggled softly, before the Spearow chirped and flew away. Turning your head, you sighed as you watched the wild Pokemon slowly leave......all except for one.

Your eyes widened and another gasp escaped from your lips as you saw the mythical green and black Pokemon before you:

"Meloetta??"

You remembered reading about this Pokemon, along with other Mythical and Legendary ones, but who would think, of all people, you would encounter one?

She giggled, floating over towards you with a gracious smile on her face.

"You must really like my singing..."

"Meloetta," she nodded, "..Meloetta?"

"You w-w-want me to sing some more?" You asked, taken aback by her request. The Melody Pokemon nodded once more, still smiling.

"W-Well..I would love to..but the problem is I-"

"Hey! It's that girl with the annoying voice! Now she's talking to Pokemon! As if they would ever understand her."

You gasped, looking behind you to see your tormentors standing there. 'Oh no...how did they find us?!'

"Maybe the forest is where you belong," one of the girls sneered, kicking up dirt and getting it on your shirt, making you flinch. Meloetta gasped lightly, putting a hand over her mouth. She was shocked at the scene that was unfolding before her.

"Since you're such a weirdo that only talks to Pokemon!" She smirked as the other kids laughed.

You glared at them. "Well...at least they have a heart unlike you monsters!" You shouted.

The kids' eyes widened, and, at first, you thought you finally stood up to them...until some of them got out their Pokeballs, releasing their Pokemon.

Now it was your turn to be terrified. They had Seviper, Mightyena, Tentacool, and Electrike. Cotton used Growl on them, though it had very little effect as it couldn't counter Seviper and Mightyena's Intimidate.

"You're just weak, [y/n]. " One of the boys said, "if you spent time training that Shiny Swablu instead of singing stupid songs...you might stand a chance against us. 

Cotton shivered in fright, flying back into your arms. You whimpered and hugged him close, protecting him as the bully yelled out a command to his Mightyena.

But Meloetta flew in front of you, using Light Screen as the Dark-type lunged with his mouth wide open, bumping into the barrier.

You opened your eyes, looking up in shock to see that Meloetta defended you. The Light Screen disappeared as she sighed, looking back to see you and Cotton. The terror in both of your eyes was enough to make her understand why you didn't like to sing.

"Is that Meloetta?!"
"I want it!"
"What does it want with [y/n]?"
"I don't care! She ain't getting it!"
"Weaken it so we can catch it!!"

The bullies' Pokemon charged at the Melody Pokemon.

Meloetta glared at your tormentors. "Melo..." She smirked, before taking a deep breath and using Hyper Voice. The force of the blast made the ground shake and sent the Pokemon flying backwards, falling onto their trainers.

"Ack!"
"Get off me Electrike!"
"Meloetta is too strong! We're not ready for this!"
"If it wasn't for that stupid--"

The girl who insulted you before bit her tongue as Meloetta glared at her. That was all it took to send her scrambling to her feet, retreating her Pokemon, and running out of the forest. The Melody Pokemon looked at the other bullies, before they got the hint and ran away, screaming in terror.

Once she knew they were gone for sure, Meloetta turned around, and floated over to you, humming softly. You opened your eyes, uncovering your ears as you looked up at her.

"Th-Thank you..Meloetta," you said, smiling widely. "No one h-has ever stood up for me before..except Cotton of course. But you...you scared them away!"

"Meloetta!"

"You mean...they won't bother us ever again?" Your eyes widened. Meloetta nodded, smiling as she twirled in the air, singing a piece of her famous Relic Song before a bright light engulfed her body and changed her into her Pirouette Form.

"Wow.." You whispered, standing up. Suddenly, Cotton flew out of your arms and into the air to meet the now orange Melody Pokemon.

"Swa?"

"Melo~" She giggled, winking at the Shiny Swablu. 

You raised an eyebrow as you saw big, red hearts appear in Cotton's eyes.

'Did she just... use Attract on my Pokemon?'

Meloetta blushed slightly, floating over towards Cotton and taking his wings into her hands. You watched at the two began to sing in what you would call a "duet".

But soon, you too found yourself singing along as well.



Soon, Meloetta decided to join you and Cotton, who you later evolved into Altaria-a powerful Dragon-type with a beautiful voice. Nobody ever messed with you nor insulted your talent again, and it was all thanks to a certain Pokemon that adored singing as much as you did.
