You trekked through Snowdin, shivering slightly despite the sweater you had on.

'Snowing...underground? Can this place get any weirder?'

You expected Toriel to at least try to prepare you for your journey, like giving you something much warmer to wear...but you supposed she wanted you to explore the Underground yourself since you were so determined to leave the Ruins.

Just thinking of her made your heart hurt a little. How you'd wish you could have stayed with her. You would be eating pie and sitting by the fireplace as she read stories to you, or facts about snails. Yet..you wondered why she was so protective and insisted that you stayed.

Then you realized that you weren't the first human here. Toriel was only trying to protect you from what was out there..so you do not end up dead like the others before you. Despite that, curiosity killed the cat, they say.

After crossing paths with two friendly skeletons, you didn't think that it was all that bad. Some Monsters were looking to pick a fight, though you spared them and showed kindness. Toriel's words were fresh in your mind:

"We don't want to hurt anyone now, do we?"

"Heh.." You chuckled slightly, seeing your cold breath appear in the air. "Don't worry, Toriel. I wouldn't hurt a fly-"

"Who goes there?!"

Startled, you turned around to find, just a few feet from you, another Monster. But this one was..odd: It was an anthromorphic dog wielding two small swords, and wearing a pink tank top and leopard pants.

'Quite the taste in fashion I must say...' You grimaced.

He was looking around, sniffing the air, as though he couldn't see that you were right in front of him.

Maybe it would be best to introduce yourself, rather than leave the poor fella. But then again...those dual swords he had made you feel uneasy.

Oh well..you only live once, the saying goes.

"Hey.." You called out softly. "Don't be afraid." The dog Monster gasped slightly, before looking your way. Smiling, you took a few steps forward.

"I'm just a friend-" You started, only to gasp when he thrust his weapons in your direction, the tips of the blades stopping at your throat.

"No human is any friend of mine!" He snarled. "State your business."

'He must be another sentry..but a sentry that can't see what's in front of him..?'

"Okaaay, first off..drop the weapon," you said. The dog tilted his head, squinting. "And why should I? Last time someone told me to do tha-"

"Cause all I got is this...stick." You showed him the stick you had with you, waving it around. It was your only defense since you didn't quite fancy carrying around a knife. "You know what they say: "Speak softly and carry a big stick"."

"......I don't quite get it," he replied, confused, though he lowered his swords, much to your relief. "Sooooo...you got a name, doggy?" You asked, tilting your head with a smile.

"It's Doggo, thank you very much," he grunted, crossing his arms and leaning against his post. "I'm a member of the Royal Guard. So you got a name, too...human?" Doggo smirked, his canines glinting in the light. You were, on the other hand, dumbfounded at what he said: Royal Guard? He didn't have any fancy armor like Papyrus....well he did have weapons but still.

"I know I'm not just talking to air..am I?"

You blinked. "Oh! Ah...sorry..I'm [y/n]."

"State your business, [y/n]."

"I just ended up here after leaving the Ruins," you began. "Toriel-"

"The Quee--I mean..Toriel?" His eyes widened in surprise. "She is alright? Is she hurt? You......you didn't harm our former queen, did you?" He growled, pointing his sword at you in accusation.

Your eyes widened and your hands flew up. "Oh no, no, no!" You shook your head vigorously. "She saved me! She...she helped me after I fell down a hole and into the Underground. She took me in and cared for me..."

"That so?" Doggo narrowed his eyes, but withdrew his sword. "Then why would you leave the one place where you are safe? Where Monsters like myself cannot harm you?"

You opened your mouth to reply. But the problem was...you weren't sure what to say. You didn't want to reveal too much about yourself. If he was part of the Royal Guard, he'd surely use whatever you tell him to his advantage.
He'd probably notify Papyrus, or the head of the Royal Guard...or worse.....the King.

As Doggo tapped his foot impatiently, you looked at the stick in your hand, then back to him..then back to the stick again.

Suddenly, you had an idea.

"Hey! Fetch!" You threw the stick as far as you could. Immediately, Doggo swung his head around to see the brown object flying.

"MINE!"

Dropping his swords, he dashed after the stick, barking like crazy.

'Golly...that actually worked.' Your eyes widened in surprise. 'Now I can make my getaway!'

Moments later, Doggo returned with the object between his teeth. "I got it! ...eh?" His jaw-dropped, letting it plop into the snow as he watched you sprint off into the town of Snowdin.

"Damn that human." He growled, before sighing with defeat. As he returned to his station, he took out a dog treat to smoke. "I was looking forward to playing fetch...."
Requested by :iconshadathedgehog:

Boom. Another request done by yours truly ^^ if you don't know about Doggo, he's a miniboss you encounter in Snowdin. He can't really see things that are stationary, only when they move.

Yes....
His wiki page states that he like to smoke dog treats...I wasn't high when I wrote this I swear Crazy Crazy Crazy Crazy Demoman's Crazy Eyebrows (TF2 Chat Icon).
