"No, no, no, Jack!! Please!! Stay vith me!! I von't lose you again!!"

The German doctor was nearly out of breath as he rushed around the ER, desperately trying to find something, do something...do anything that could save his patient's life...again.

Yet the demon still lingered in his mind, whispering, laughing, taunting- doing anything it possibly could to hinder his progress. At one point it tried to make Henrik stab himself in the eye with a syringe, but he snapped out of it before it could.

He was being given a second chance, or so he thought, but he wasn't about to let it slip by him.

Not now. Not ever.

Meanwhile, Jack woke up, gasping and coughing out drops of blood. "Sch..Schneep..?"

Upon hearing his name, Henrik gasped and rushed back to the operating table, his eyes wide in shock. "Jack!! I thought zhat anesthesia vasn't suppose to vear off for a few hours!!" He mumbled anxiously, frantically searching for the needle containing the substance.

Once he found it, he looked down at his friend, giving him a shaky smile behind his surgical mask. "I-It's gonna be alright, Jack..I'll...I'll just put you under once more....and zhen--" But as he went to inject the needle, Jack suddenly reached up and weakly shoved his hand away.

"Sch-Schneep...you know...I..I-I was doomed from the s-start.." He rasped, rolling onto his side and clutching the doctor's sleeve tightly as he began to hack up more blood, getting splatters of red on his coat. "E-Even if ya did..everythin' right...nothing w-would-"

"Jack, please let go," Henrik told him, trying to remove his grip on his arm, but it only tightened as Jack began to wheeze from the pain he was in.

Just hearing him in so much agony was enough to make tears burn in the back of his eyes. And the fact that the beeping of the heart rate monitor was slowing down did not help. "Damn it let go of me and let me help you!! Ve're vasting time!!"

"H-Henrik...y..you've done your best..." Jack croaked, struggling to keep his eyes open as his breathing grew shallow.

"Vhat?! Oh no, no, no! Don't say your goodbyes yet, my friend!!"

"Just..wh..whatever... ya do...don't.. let him in..."

"Him?" Henrik furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Y-You mean..... A-Anti-?"

But the moment he let the name slip from his tongue, his body began to twitch and suddenly he began to convulse with loud, uncontrollable laughter, chanting the name over and over again, much to the dying man's horror.

Within seconds, Henrik was able to snap out of it, shaking his head before rubbing the side of it. A sharp, dull pain was now pounding against every inch of his skull, as though there was something inside of it that wanted out.

Something...awful.

"H-Henri-"

"P-Please..be quiet..." Henrik whimpered. ".....vh-vhatever he vants I vill make sure you are n-no part of-"

However he was cut off when a familiar, warped laugh began to echo in his mind.

'Ya know ye can't stop me~' It spoke, muting every sound in the room except for its voice.

The doctor gasped in horror. "You again...Vh-Vhy are you doing zhis to him?! Vhat do you vant from him?! I demand answers!!!"

'Why do ya even try anymore?' The voice ignored his questions. 'Ya already failed him.'

"SHUT UP! It's not too late to redeem myself!!"

'Oh..but I'm afraid it is. Ye cheated him out of death once, good doctor.'

"AND I'LL FUCKING DO IT AGAIN!!" He snapped. "HE IS MY FRIEND AND I'M NOT GONNA LET YOU TAKE HIM AVAY FROM ME! HE DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU!"

The voice merely tutted. 'Oh Schneep, Schneep, Schneep...ya never learn, do you? He was mine to begin with!! But soon....you will be, too.'

In an instant, it faded away with a chuckle, allowing Henrik to hear once again.

But the first sound he picked up was one he dreaded most:

The flatlining of the heart rate monitor.

His face paled as he stared down at Jack, whose arm fell limp, leaving a bloody handprint on the doctor's sleeve.

"No...no, no, no!! JAAAACK!!!" He screamed, collapsing beside the cold, steel table. With a choked sob, he brought his deceased friend into his arms, not caring if the blood stained his coat.

"Damn it!! I-I promised I s-save you zhis time!!" Tears burned in his eyes as he rested his head on top of Jack's, rocking back and forth slightly. "I...I p-promised..."

"H-Henrik?!"

Looking up, Henrik gasped in horror as he saw Anti, in his physical form, standing on the opposite side of the table with you in a headlock and a knife pressed against your delicate throat.

"No...God please.." He whimpered, shaking his head. "Not my vife...anything but her!!"

"Then you should've been payin' attention to her more, good doctor," the demon smiled wickedly. "Ya could've saved her when ya had the chance...now, because of you, she's gǫņ́̀e͞ f͡ơ͟͞r̶̀e̡̡v͟ȩ̀r~"

The doctor let out a scream as he watched him drag the knife across your throat and heard the sound of another heart rate flatlining.

"NO!!!! [Y/N]!!!!"

.......

You woke up to the faint sound of your husband's bloodcurdling screams, your heart racing fast. But after taking a moment to calm down, you turned on the lamp and glanced over at the alarm clock, which displayed 2:30 AM in blue and green neon colors.

But before you could get out of bed, the door swung open and you saw Henrik standing there, huffing and puffing. His blue eyes were incredibly puffy, rimmed with tears and dark circles, his hair was an absolute mess, and his coat (which he always insisted on wearing even when he slept) was heavily wrinkled.

"Henrik? You okay?" You asked, now concerned as he just stared at you, unmoving.

You were aware that he had frequent nightmares about his failed operations, but this was the first time you've ever heard him wake up screaming.

It then occurred to you that the recent surgery he had done, with his good friend Jack, was a particularly traumatizing experience for him...

'Maybe that's why he looks so terrified..'

Sighing, you scooted over and patted the spot beside you in a silent invitation. "Come here, hun."

Henrik nodded as he made his way over to you, stumbling a bit as fresh tears spilled from his eyes. The moment he sat down was when a heart-wrenching sob choked its way out of him. He then collapsed into your embrace, wrapping his arms around your waist as he rested his head against your chest, listening to your heartbeat.

On nights like these, it was just that sound alone that kept him sane.

Between his sobs, he poured out everything that he recalled from his nightmare, Jack, his dying words, Anti's cruel taunts....everything.

You simply listened, allowing him to vent as you ran a hand through his hair, gently stroking the dark green strands. However, you were a bit shocked when he mentioned that Anti actually killed you in his nightmare.

But when he started talking about how he was a failure, that's when you knew you had to intervene.

"Henrik, sweetie..can you look up at me for a second?"

Sniffling, the German slowly raised his head up to meet your eyes. "I-I'm sorry, [y/n]...I know my r-rambling can get a little annoying after a vhile but-"

"No, no, it's okay." You hushed, leaning forward to kiss his tears away. "But listen..no matter what that bastard tells you, you're a good person. You're a wonderful doctor who has helped so many wonderful people, including Jack. And even if he's gone now, I'm sure he was more than grateful that you extended his life. You haven't failed him at all."

Henrik stared at you, sniffling quietly. "You...you believe zhat?"

You nodded your head, smiling a bit. "Of course..no matter what I'll always believe in you, Henrik...even on days where you struggle to believe in yourself."

For a few moments, he stared at you in silence, before he gave you a tiny smile back. "Zhank you, liebe..." But his smile soon faltered. "But I...I'm still left confused on how exactly Jack..." He paused, swallowing a lump in his throat. "..p-passed...I still have no answers even after-"

He was cut off when you both heard the door creak open. Then you glanced over to see that your five year old son, [s/n], and nine year old daughter, [d/n], were standing in the doorway with worried expressions on their faces.

"Are you okay, Daddy?" [D/n] asked, clutching her rabbit doll close to her as she led her brother closer to the bed. "We..we heard you screaming.."

"A-Ah...I-I'm fine now kiddos," Henrik replied after a few moments, smiling and rubbing his eyes. "Did I vake you two up? I'm sorry."

"Was the scawwy, gween bean bullying you again, Daddy?" [S/n] pouted slightly.

You raised an eyebrow, looking over at your husband. ""Scary, green bean"? Really Henrik?"

He shrugged with a small chuckle, before he turned back and scooped [S/n] up into his lap. "Yes. He vas... giving me some nasty nightmares but...now he's gone avay zhanks to you two."

"Reallwy?" The young boy asked, his eyes wide.

Henrik nodded, ruffling his hair. "Yup. Because seeing you angels was enough to scare zhat demon avay..for now at least."

"But if he comes back, we'll chase him away again for you, Daddy!" [D/n] declared with a confident smirk on her face.

The doctor blinked in surprise, but then a watery smile appeared on his face as he helped her onto the bed as well, and embraced them both. "Y-You know..I'll always love you guys."

"We love you, too."
"We wuv you, too, Daddy."

You couldn't help but let out a small 'awh' at the heartwarming scene. Seeing the way Henrik bonded with the kids reminded you that while he was obsessed with his work, he loved them unconditionally and did his best to always put them first.

"But..we never see you around anymore," [D/n] frowned a bit, "Mommy keeps saying how you should take a break."

Henrik blinked several times, looking at his daughter, and then to you.

"It's true. You really do need it after all you've been through."

As you expected, he shook his head. "No. Zhere's a lot I still have to do. I still have a doctor's license to recover an-"

"Henrik..I think you can afford to take a vacation."

"But-"

"Don't make me repeat myself, Henrik von Schneeplestein," you threatened in a low tone of voice, narrowing your eyes at him.

The doctor flinched back, before he then sighed in defeat. "Fine, fine...I'll take some time off. Maybe it vill do me good."

"Yaay!!" [D/n] and [S/n] both cheered.

Henrik chuckled, giving them both a kiss on the cheek. "Alright, alright. But you need to go back to sleep now if you vant to see me around in zhe morning."

Nodding eagerly, the two children hopped off the bed and left the room, closing the door behind them.

"And it's time you go back to sleep, too, Mr. Schneep." You chuckled, wrapping your arms around him.

He looked back at you with a slight frown on his face. "But...vhat if-"

But you shut him up with a quick kiss on the lips. "If he does, tell me and I'll gladly hunt him down and kick his ass for you," you promised, giving him a hug.

Henrik was quiet for a few moments, though he sighed once more and nodded, before hugging you back. "Okay.." He whispered, a smile appearing on his face as he rested his chin on your shoulder.

"...I'll hold you to zhat, liebling.."
Gah...well..this one hurt my heart to write a bit ^^;

Anywho, it's ze good docta who hasn't done a single thing wRONG IN HIS LIFE AND WHO WE ALL OWE A BIG HUG AND APOLOGY TO.
Cry run Cry run

My headcanon is that Schneep (who I'd like to think is still alive after the events of the "Kill Jacksepticeye" video) has frequent nightmares about his failure to save Jack caused by a certain glitch beeyotch and it drives him to find out how Anti destroyed Jack's body so he can potentially stop him from infecting any other egos *cough*likeChase*cough*.

Welp..on the brightside I did decide to make you the docta's good wife ^^ That was just a cute idea I had in mind.

Hope you all enjoy this little feels trip~

aaww that's both beautifully touching to see him with his family and a little sad to see him so tormented by Anti
