"This very friendly Dragon-type Pokemon will hug its beloved trainer, leaving that trainer covered in sticky slime"-Goodra's Pokedex Entry
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

For as long as you've lived in Kalos, Goodra has been the only Pokemon you've ever owned. You once found it as a Goomy, alone in a cave, being made fun of by other Pokemon for its silly, putty-like form and the fact that it was a Dragon-type.

Even though you risked getting hurt by the wild creatures, you defended the Goomy and managed to chase them all off while only coming out with a few scratches. Since then, the Soft Tissue Pokemon devoted its life to you and, thus, a new friendship had blossomed--one that you knew would last for a lifetime.

You raised the Goomy yourself, evolving it into Sliggoo, and, finally, Goodra. But while Goodra was powerful, indeed, that didn't mean that the teasing and mockery from other trainers you battled stopped.

When you said you'd try to challenge Drasna, an Elite Four member specializing in Dragon-types, with your only Goodra, people laughed at your ambitions. They told you to get "real" Dragons like Salamence and Druddigon on your team instead.

Of course, you'd never let their words get to you, figuring that they were just mad that they never gave a Goodra a chance nor realized its full potential. There wasn't a diddly-darn thing they could say or do to make you change your mind.

However Goodra, on the other hand, while it didn't let their words phase it either, it sometimes it wondered if you truly want it by your side.
.........

Your jaw dropped in shock as Goodra collapsed, having been swiftly defeated by your opponent's Druddigon in just two turns.

You knew that Dragon-types were super effective against one another, but usually luck was almost always on your side!

"How pathetic.."

After healing Goodra with a revive, you glared up at your opponent who looked down on you with a smirk on his face.

"Whatever, just take my money and go," you growled, not wanting to deal with him right now as you gave him several dollar bills. He took the money, but didn't move as his Druddigon snickered and approached you.

Your eyes widened in both confusion and fear. "W-W-What are you doing? You won, alright? Just leave us alo-"

"That's funny," the trainer mused, "I thought that, from this battle, you'd learn how your Goodra is nothing compared to other Dragon-types. Ever wonder why there are so few in the world of Pokemon?"

You didn't say anything, wondering where he was going with this.

"Because they are suppose to be frightening and intimidating....not cute and squishy like your friend there." He mocked, pointing to your Goodra, whose eyes widened in shock. "Just look at my Druddigon!"

Said Dragon-type stopped in front of you and crouched down, growling menacingly. You gulped nervously, retreating Goodra as you took several steps back.

"Don't get too cocky just cause your poor excuse of a Dragon-type has higher stats. Druddy here can tear 'em a new one in two seconds flat. Got it?"

"I......I understand." You sighed in defeat. Thankfully, he seemed satisfied with your answer and withdrew his Druddigon.

"I'll see ya around, kiddo...and next time you oughta have better Dragon-types." The trainer chuckled, before he turned and walked away, leaving you frozen and speechless.

"In your dreams...asshole." You grumbled, shaking your head before you began to head home.
.............

Later that night, you were sleeping peacefully in your bed, lost in your dreamworld. You were just trying to forget all about the day's events.

However, Goodra on the other hand, did not. It was in its Pokeball, mellowing over the crude words of that trainer and how strong his Druddigon was. It laughed at both of you. The Dragon-type then began to think that you didn't really want it anymore, considering how upset you looked when it lost.
Goodra quietly broke out of its Pokeball. Gooey tears cascaded down its face as it rose and looked to the window, seeing the full moon, before glancing down at the numerous trees below. Your home was built just on the edge of a nearby forest.

'[Y/n] won't miss me..' Goodra thought sadly as it looked at you and saw your back facing it. 'He/She deserves much better Dragon-types than me...' Opening the window quietly, it hopped out, landed in your backyard, and ran off into the forest, leaving several drops of goop in its wake.
........

The sound of a loud 'thump' snapped you out of your dream. "Ugh...man I had such a good dream, too," you sighed, yawning a bit as you sat up. Looking at your clock, you realized that it was only 2:15 AM.

"Shit....hey Goodra did you hear that..." But when you looked over at your nightstand, you realized that your Goodra's Pokeball was empty. "..noise?"

Now you were fully awake, horrified as you grabbed the Pokeball and stared at it. A million questions ran through your head in that moment:

Where was Goodra? Did somebody steal it? Did it break out on it's own? Did it-

Wait.

It couldn't have been simply stolen, for its Pokeball was still here and you would have noticed a lot sooner. Feeling a sudden, cold breeze, you shivered slightly before looking to the window and realizing that it was open.

"Oh my Arceus!" You gasped, getting out of bed quickly and throwing on a jacket and some slippers. Taking the Pokeball, you quickly went over to the window and climbed out, landing in the grass before you sprinted into the forest, running faster than you've ever done in your life.
........

"Goodra?? Goooooodra?" You called out, only to get no response in the quiet, dark forest.

You've searched for what felt like hours for your Dragon-type companion, but nothing turned up other than the occasional Trevenant trying to snatch you up.

With a shaky sigh, you sat down on a tree stump, running your hands through your hair as you tried to make sense of the situation.

'Why did Goodra run away? Is it me? Are the insults getting to its head? Am I a bad trainer? Did I not do enough to defend it from that dumb trainer's words? What did I do wrong?!? Okay...okay....just relax, [y/n]. It's not you. It's all those shitty people who think they're all high and mighty just cause their Dragon-types look cooler-'

"Ah! It's the Goodra-girl/boy! Fancy seeing you here."

'Oh no...'

Looking up, your eyes widened in horror to see the same trainer from before, only this time two of his friends were with him.

"Yeah....how can I help you?" You asked with mock-kindness, standing up.

"I just wanted to battle you again and show my friends just how "strong" your Goodra is," he stated with a cocky smirk.

"O-Oh! Really um....okay," you replied, hiding the empty Pokeball behind your back.

"Well...what are you waiting for?"

'Run, [y/n]! Just run!'
Your thoughts screamed, and so you did...only to bump into the Druddigon from before. With a yelp of surprise, you fell back on your rear, the Pokeball falling out of your hand and rolling towards the trainer.

"What's this? Empty?" He mused, picking it up before glaring at you. "Where is your Goodra? Finally got rid of it or what?"

"N-No..." You stammered, glancing back at him while shaking your head. "It went to look for some..uh...berries. It can sniff them out easily so I'm just waiting here until it gets-" But you stopped when you saw his grin growing even wider.

"Wow....your lie is just as pathetic as your Goodra. You don't know where it is, do ya?"

"That's...that's none of your business."

"Hmm..well we can't have a Pokemon battle without your Pokemon. I guess we'll have to resort to "other" methods." He chuckled as the others called out their Pokemon.

Your eyes widened in shock, realizing what they were about to do. "W-Wait! You can't do that!"

"Why not?" The trainer shrugged. "If a battle doesn't show ya how strong other Dragon-types are...perhaps this will."

They all then snapped their fingers, commanding their Pokemon to attack you.
................

"Goodra.." Goodra sighed as it entered the cave where it was once found by you several years ago. There were some Zubat and the occasional Carbink, though none of them even thought to disturb the Dragon-type. After drying its tears, it decided that it would take a nap here.

But just as it was about to lay down and curl up.....it heard a scream. 'That sounds like my owner's!' It thought, running out of the cave and towards the source of the cry for help.

Regardless of whether you hated it or not, Goodra was going to save you.

"P-Please..no more!!"

Skidding to a stop, it hid behind a tree, before leaning over. Goodra's eyes widened in horror as it saw you being held up by the Druddigon, your arms and legs covered in scratches and bruises as the three trainers and other Pokemon behind it laughed.

Goodra gritted its teeth as the Druddigon used its claw to scrape your cheek before throwing you to the ground.

That's it. No more Mr. Nice-Goodra.

"GOOOODRAAAAA!!!!"

The trainers and Druddigon turned around just in time to see the Dragon Pokemon come charging out of the woods. While the trainers got out of the way in time, Druddigon wasn't so lucky and received a punch equivalent to the power of 100 boxers to the face. It roared in pain, covering its snout with its hands as it was struck by several more punches.

Goodra then finished off with a Dragon Pulse, knocking the Cave Pokemon to the ground, causing it to faint.

"EHH???"
"But how?!"
"How could that lame Dragon-type-?!"

Hearing a growl, the trainers' faces paled as they looked up and saw Goodra towering over them. it cracked its knuckles, smirking down at the humans. Those two simple actions were all it took for them to retreat their Pokemon and run out of the woods screaming.

It sighed in satisfaction, knowing that they won't be bothering it or you ever again.

Suddenly, its eyes widened as it thought of you and turned around to see you struggling to stand up. Goodra hurried to your side, crouching down to help you.

"I...I'm alright, buddy," you said, smiling up at it. "I....I was worried tha...that when you were missing I thought....I was a bad trainer."

Goodra blinked, before remembering why it ran away to begin with. You were confused when it took its hand off your shoulder and looked away.

"Hey.." It was surprised when it felt your hand under its chin; it glanced back at you. "You ran away 'cause you thought that I didn't want you anymore? Is that it?"

"G-Goodra.." It nodded slowly, refusing to look at you in the eye.

"Goodra. Look at me."

The Dragon Pokemon hesitantly raised its head, seeing that you weren't angry, but....smiling?

"No matter what they say about you, no matter who or how many, nothing's gonna change my mind about you," you reassured. "They're only jealous that they can't get a Goodra themselves and see just how strong they really are. And also....thank you for coming back to protect me. You had a choice not to....but you did and I'm so, so proud of you for doing that."

Goodra's eyes widened incredulously at your words, but everything you had said was spoken from the bottom of your heart. It smiled widely, giving you a gooey hug.

"Heyyyyyy, you're getting goo all over me," you pouted, but decided to accept it as you embraced your companion back. After a few moments, you both parted and stood up.

"How about we head back home? I gotta take a shower to get this goop off," you giggled. Goodra nodded in agreement, and so you picked up the empty Pokeball and put the Dragon Pokemon back inside.

With a sigh, you closed it up and headed out of the forest. Perhaps you should give Goodra a few lessons in confidence so that something like this didn't happen again.
