~Shawn's POV~

"I don't be seein' what the big deal is. So what if I went and painted some of those Bendy dolls with a crooked smile? That's sure no reason for Mr. Drew to be flyin' off the handle at me! And if he really wants to be so helpful, he could be tellin' me what I'm to be doin' with this warehouse I got full of that angelwhatchimacallit! Not a scrap of that mess be sellin'. Probably have to melt it all down to be rid of it all."

After pressing the stop button on the diary cassette, I propped the old device against the wall before leaning back in my chair.

"Ugh...why am I still at this godforsaken job?" I groaned to no one in particular as I brought my hands to the sides of my head, gently rubbing my temples to soothe the massive headache that was pounding against every inch of my skull.

I didn't really care that I had ink all over my hands. There was really no point in washing them off, as they were just gonna get stained again.

With a sigh, my gaze shifted over to the Bendy doll that had been thrown to the floor--the one that my boss called an "imperfection". I reached down and picked it up, staring at it for a couple moments with tired eyes and slight frown.

I didn't see what the problem was..the corner of its mouth was only slightly crooked. I'm certain that a child could care less about one, barely noticeable mistake. As long as the doll didn't fall apart as soon as they hugged it, it shouldn't matter..

On the other hand, however, it seemed to matter a lot to Joey.

Now Joey was...many things, but among them he was absolutely crazy. I can't say that out loud, though, for I could be fired.

And in this day in age, it was hard for an Irishman like myself to find a decent-paying job.

"Shit.." I muttered, realizing how blurry my vision was growing, before I rubbed my eyes, although that did nothing to clear my sight.

The exhaustion was starting to get to me; it was both physically and mentally draining. There were days where I felt like crying from the frustration, and there were other days where I felt like passing out right on my desk.

But, somehow, I still managed to get through all of it.

Thanks to my supposed "slip up", however, Joey has now doubled my workload, meaning I'll have to paint these dolls at twice the speed I normally do if I wanted to get a decent check.

As if I wasn't already being underpaid as is..

Thankfully he was kind enough to let me go on break..and I wasn't about to waste it muddling around in this sweaty, musty workshop.

Setting down the Bendy doll, I stood up, although for a moment I had to brace my hands against my desk to steady myself as the world was staring to spin.

"God....I swear Joey..one day yer gonna work someone t' death." I mumbled as I made my way out of the workshop, deciding to visit a friend of mine. They were always there to help me get through the day.

After punching out, I took a glance over at the poster on the wall that said "WORK HARD, WORK HAPPY". I gave a dry chuckle at it.

I may be working hard..but I sure as hell ain't working happy.
.....

~Your POV~

"Aww what? Again?! How could I let a toon best me in a card game?!"

"I dunno." Boris simply shrugged, although there was a small grin on his face as he took the notepad and scribbled another tally mark underneath his name. "But I guess it's just pure luck."

"Maybe so.." You sighed, collecting all of the cards into a stack and reshuffling them.

Now if Joey walked in on you and realized you were playing cards with Boris for a good hour when you should be working...he would've blown a major gasket for sure.

You were hired to keep watch of the "Safehouse", as he called it, and do other minor janitorial tasks. However, your job was relatively easy and, in a sense, rewarding since it allowed you to spend some time with Boris, since nobody else really came down here.

This place was practically your second home, as you had your own little room set up, which you'd often relax in whenever the stresses of working at the studio got to you.

Speaking of stresses, you and Boris were aware that Shawn had been coming to visit you both more often, given that Heavenly Toys was the closest area to the Safehouse. But with each visit he made..you could see him becoming more exhausted and less talkative.

In all honesty, you felt bad for the poor Irishman who was put into that sweatshop of a toy department, working around the clock only to get paid below the minimum wage. It made you wonder why he never bothered to ask Joey for extra hands.

"So..you wanna go again?"

Before Boris could give you an answer, you heard a knock on the door. "Oh? Looks like we got a visitor....hide these just in case.." You whispered, sliding the stack of cards over to the wolf toon before you stood up from your chair and made your way to the door.

Gripping the lever, you pulled it down to open it. A small smile appeared on your face when you saw Shawn on the other side, leaning against the doorway with his eyes closed.

"Hey Shawn."

"H-Huh..oh..hey, [y/n]," he muttered tiredly, opening his eyes to look at you. "Sorry t' bother ya but.."

"Oh no worries, you could never bother me." You led the toy maker inside, your smile fading as you noticed how he was struggling to keep his eyes open. "You alright? Has Joey been working you to the bone again?"

Shawn simply gave you a tired nod in response.

"Awh..I see..well feel free to stay here for as long as you'd like."

Once more, he nodded, mumbling a greeting to Boris as he sat down in your chair. He then folded his arms onto the table and buried his face into them. Almost immediately, he was out like a light, as you heard quiet snores coming from his form a few seconds later.

'Poor guy..everyday he just seems to be getting worse..' You thought worriedly, pulling up an extra chair and sitting beside him. With one hand you gave him a gentle back rub, which he seemed to appreciate as his shoulders became slightly more relaxed, although his muscles were still fairly tight.

Now, you were aware that Joey was ignorant of the building's infrastructure and the health of his employees in general, but you couldn't bear to see Shawn being overworked like this, especially when you knew that he was already being treated poorly enough.

At this rate, you feared the exhaustion will kill him....unless there was something you could do to help his predicament.

Then you had an idea.

"Hey, Boris?" You whispered to the wolf softly as to not disturb the toy maker's slumber.

Boris blinked, his ears perking up and his head tilted to the side as he stared at you, wondering what you were going to say next.

"You think you can do me one, small favor?"
......

Several hours have passed before Shawn woke up, feeling a bit more refreshed than before. After sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he noticed that there was a soft blanket wrapped around his shoulders.

He clutched the ends of it, hugging it around himself as he savored its comforting feeling, before glancing over to see a steaming bowl of Bacon Soup in front of him.

As if on cue, his stomach began to growl loudly, making him wince in slight pain.

When's the last time he ate something decent?

With a small sigh, he reached for the spoon, but then another thought crossed his mind which made him stop. 'How long have I been asnooze for..?'

Glancing down at his watch, his eyes widened and all of the color on his face became drained as he realized the time. 'Oh shit! I should be back at work right now!'

But before he could jump to his feet, he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Jeez, Shawn..you're actin' like an energized bunny!"

"A-Ah, heya Boris.." Shawn coughed, looking up at the wolf with a small smile, although it quickly faded. "I um..I gotta get back t' work. I overstayed my welcome here.." He tried to shrug the blanket off of him, but Boris gently grabbed both of his hands with his own, pulling them away.

"I'm afraid I can't let ya go, buddy. Under [y/n]'s orders I gotta make sure you stay here 'till you're well again."

The toy maker blinked several times in surprise, before his eyebrows furrowed. "Boris I..appreciate what you guys are tryna do..but I'm fine now. I need t-"

"Shawn, I know you haven't been eating," Boris cut him off, his ears drooping slightly. "I could hear your tummy growlin' from the other side of the room! Now I dunno much about you humans but..a growl that loud doesn't sound normal.."

Shawn opened his mouth to protest when he was cut off by the rumbling in his stomach once more, as though to prove the wolf's point.

"See? So c'mon now..just relax and eat at least some of the Bacon Soup. You've earned it after all the hard work you've done."

He hesitated for a few moments longer, glancing back at the still steaming bowl in front of him, before sighing in defeat. "Fine..but..Joey's gonna have my head for this.." He turned back to take the spoon out of it.

A small smile appeared on Boris' face as he watched him practically devour the soup. The wolf then sat in the other chair, picking up his banjo and strumming it absentmindedly.

This went on for several minutes before Shawn spoke again.

"So..where did [y/n] run off to?"

"Ah, they went to uhh..talk to Joey," Boris replied, looking back at him.

"About what?"

"About you being worked to the bone in that toy place."

Shawn's eyes widened with slight surprise. "What..? Are they serious? I..I mean I know I say I hate my job ev'ryday, but-"

"And you shouldn't," Boris pointed out, frowning a little as he set his banjo back onto the floor. "Makin' toys out of Bendy, Alice, and I should be fun! But..I hear you've been working in that workshop alone, being yelled at everyday for little mistakes....and that does not sound fun at all. Besides...[y/n]'s been real worried about your health lately, so they've gone to talk to Joey about both those things. They took Bendy with 'em as backup, too."

For a few moments, Shawn was completely silent as he thought over his words. A part of him wished you could mind your own business, as he didn't want you to worry about him so much.

He appreciated the fact that you genuinely cared about him...but at the same time he didn't feel like he was worth the trouble

"We're back~!"

Glancing behind him, he saw you and Bendy walk into the Safehouse. While the demon paused to shut the door, you went over to the table and sat next to Shawn, giving him a smile. "How did you sleep?"

"..fine I guess," he shrugged, rubbing his eyes a little. "So..um..what did you tell-?"

"We just gave him the old whatfor!" Bendy cut him off as he marched over to the table. There was a scowl evident on his face. "Can't believe he has the nerve to treat a decent person like ya so..so crudely! Hell, if I had to be honest...both you and [y/n] are the only sane people left in this place!" He fumed, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Huh..well..guess I take that as a... compliment?" Shawn replied in a confused-sounding voice, although he shook his head and looked back at you. "But anyway, what didja talk to Mr. Drew about?"

"Well I told him about how you could use some extra help in Heavenly Toys," you explained. "And...after about two hours of negotiating and trying to keep Bendy from losing his marbles...we finally reached a compromise." Your smiled widened as you reached your hand out to him. "Looks like you have a new partner, Shawn."

The toy maker's eyes widened with disbelief, his mouth sightly agape, although moments later he closed it. "Wait.." His eyebrows furrowed. "You...you actually wanna work with me? I mean... are ya sure? It's certainly not the best-"

"Shawn..it took me forever to convince him...and I probably would've left empty handed had Bendy not been there."

The aforementioned demon nodded, looking up at Shawn. "C'mon, pal. If he's gonna make ya work twice as hard...ya mind as well split the workload with someone else, eh?"

"That's..true I guess..but alrighty then." Shawn glanced back at you, a small smile on his face as he reached out to shake your hand. Relief washed over him like a wave at the thought of no longer suffering in that workshop alone.

"Thank you so much, [y/n]. This...this really..means a lot to me. I dunno what I'd do without ya."

You simply returned the smile, having a good feeling that from here on out..things were gonna be a little less stressful for the Irishman.
Hello again, lovelies~

So here's a story I was making about Shawn Flynn who is, without a doubt, my new favorite ego :D I mean I love BATIM to death and Jack making a cameo in it just made my year xD

But I can't help but see Shawn as a v tired boy who's had enough of Joey's shenanigans. Get him a nap/some coffee/Bacon Soup ASAP.

Anywho, I got a request for another Shawn story that will involve him meeting the other egos...so expect that to come very soon.

Until then, though, hope ya'll enjoy the story~
