Literature Text

Huffing and puffing, you ran through the snow, not caring where the path was taking you.

All that matters was that you got away from that mad goat-woman and her house of hell. Toriel may have been the sweetest and kindest creature who was only trying to protect you from the outside world of the Underground...but the moment you told her you wanted to leave the Ruins, she showed your her true colors.

As punishment for even thinking about leaving, Toriel used her fire magic to give you serious burns to your arms. After that, she healed you up and wrapped bandages around the wounds, but only when you promised not to leave her again.

For a few days, you stayed with her. And each day that went by she grew more and more possessive to the point where she was calling you every hour you spent out of her sight.

Finally, you couldn't take it anymore and, while she was asleep, you sneaked out of the Ruins. But you heard her shouting and saw her fireballs hurling towards you, so you ran for it.

You just ran as fast as your legs could carry you, never looking back--which leads you to your current situation.

"You...can..slow down [y/n]...I'm getting a..a bit dizzy..." Flowey told you.

"Oh, sorry about that, Flowey," you apologized, hiding behind a boulder just in case Toriel decided to follow you. But you knew for certain that wouldn't have happened. "Whew...." You sat down in the snow, trying to catch your breath.

"G-Golly..." The flower attached to your arm muttered, looking down to examine your wounds. "She really did a number on you."

"You don't say?" You replied, grimacing at the burns, before looking up and around at the forest of tall trees. "Where are we?"

"Th-This is Snowdin Forest," he explained, "not too far is the village. That's where....." His eyes widened in horror. "Oh golly."

"What's wrong Flow-"

"Shhhhhhhh!" He placed his leaf "hand" over your mouth, looking around hastily before telling you, "This is where the sentries established their post."

You tilted your head in confusion, causing Flowey to sigh. "The sentries are Monsters who work for our king. Their job is to capture humans and take their soul. If they so much as hear you, you are D-E-A-D."

"D-Dead?!" Your [e/c] widened with shock.

Was Toriel just crazy...or was she right?
Was everything in this world out to kill you?

"Brother, I swear to god there was just a human here!" You heard a low, gruff voice that sounded close by.

"Sans..I'm sure it was just your imagination," another voice was heard, albeit it had a higher pitch to it and sounded calmer than the former.

"Then how do you explain these footprints, Paps?!" The other hissed, sounding irritated. You kept quiet as the sentries shuffled through the snow, hearing them mumbling and grumbling to each other and something about going to Grillby's.

"Sans you just had a bottle of mustard half an hour ago-!....goddamn it, Sans," you heard one of them sigh. "Always leaving in the middle of my sentences. When will he learn? Alright human...I know you're there. You can come out."

You involuntarily gasped with surprise. Despite Flowey's attempts to quiet you, it was too late.

"I promise, human, that I, the Great Papyrus, won't harm you."

Realizing that he wasn't going to leave, you sighed, standing up and walking around the rock to meet the sentry. This Monster turned out to be a tall skeleton wearing black and red armor of some sort, with pointed shoulder plates and a red, tattered cape. He had a belt buckle with a skull on it whose face seemed to change with his expression.

You could barely see the tiny red pupils in his eye sockets as they gazed down at you, narrowing with both suspicion and curiosity.

"So my brother was right.." He muttered, walking over to you. "He's such a compulsive liar that I often refuse to believe in anything he says anymore..so what is your name, human?" The skeleton crouched down in front of you.

"I-It's [y/n]..." You finally said, suddenly becoming just as timid as Flowey. "Are you going t-to kill me..?"

Papyrus shook his head. "No. I am not like those other..." He seemed to struggle to find the right word. "....savages who think violence is always the answer. My brother believes that, in this world, it's "kill or be killed"."

"Jeez.." You said, eyes wide. "Your brother has quite th-the way with words.."

"I should say, so...speaking of which..how did you end up here to begin with?" He asked you.

Sighing, you decided to tell him everything: how you fell into the Underground, how you met Flowey, and how you met and escaped Toriel's wrath. As you spoke, Papyrus remained silent, nodding on occasion. He seemed to be very understanding.

"Nyeh..I see," he spoke after you finished your story. "Do not fear, little [y/n]." He took your hands into his gloved ones. "I, the Great Papyrus, will do everything in my power to protect you. But you must do as I say. Sans will have my head if he finds out I'm keeping a human alive in our house..understood?"

A small smile grew on your face, and you suddenly threw your arms around Papyrus' neck, hugging him tightly. The action caught him off-guard, causing him to fall onto his back with a grunt.

"Human! What are you-?!"

"Th-Th-Thank you..P-Papyrus," you sniffled, tears pouring from your eyes and dripping onto his scarf. "Y-You really are the k-kindest Monster.."

"I'm..." The skeleton began. He was going to warn you that you shouldn't be so easily deceived and quick to trust him. But when he saw how small, wounded, and...afraid you were, he didn't have the heart to tell you that.

'It seems I am the only with a heart left in this hellhole after all..' Papyrus thought as he hugged your frail form, rubbing your back in what he hoped to be a soothing manner.

He will do what he could to protect you, though he risked getting dunked on by his brother.

But, for you, it would all be worth it.

I legit wrote this right after I published my Chris x Reader story no joke. o.o Since I am still up I figured "why not?" :dummy:

If you don't remember from my first Underfell story with Mettaton, basically everything red and black is out to kill you in this AU. Papyrus, though, is still the good, cool, precious cinnamon roll we all know and love. Most comics depict him as being protective of Frisk, which I do like (since his normal counterpart goes to extreme measures to capture them).

Long story short, Underfell!Papyrus is tol, kind, and can still kick ur ass with his blue attacks if you mess with him or Frisk. Underfell Papyrus Icon

Sooooooooo hope you enjoy this lovely, short story~!
